Universal Design:

A broad-spectrum solution that produces products and environments that are usable and effective for everyone

The Problem:

The following designs were created for those who are physically challenged. I created them using the engineering design process. They are created for all to be able to use.

Design 1

This was my first design. This is the most basic drawing, it is also a issometric drawing. It took almost 2 classes to complete.

Design 2

This was my second design. The main deiiference between this one and the first one is that i added a hook on the back. This makes it convenient for storage.

Troubleshooting:

When I first started off my first problem was what to make. After i decided My second problem was how i could make the handle look more 3-D. I figured this out by experimenting. I made the inside of the handle look more 3-D to improve my overall drawing. My last problem was To make my flashlight for my final design. I had a problem making it curve with the scissor.

Feedback:

After my first and second design I got some feedback from classmates on how to make my final design better. I asked three of my fellow peers. I also asked my Autocad teacher for some feedback.

Final Design

These are my scissors that I created using the engineering design. To start the engineering design process I designed three isometric drawings. Each one was slightly modified. In the end this is my finished project. It took about 5 to 6 classes to produce. The design was created for people that have a hard time operating their fingers. All that is needed for the scissors to work is pushing the button. On top of the scissors is a one of a kind flashlight that also operates by pushing the button on top.
